New optimization software targets faster analog circuit sizing, improved power efficiency, yield and reliability within Cadence workflows.
IC Optimize has introduced Odin, an analog circuit optimization tool designed to help analog and mixed-signal engineers improve device sizing and meet increasingly demanding design specifications. The company also announced its membership in the Cadence Connections Program, which supports third-party software providers developing complementary technologies and validated interfaces for Cadence design flows.
Odin applies mathematical optimization to analog circuit design, enabling engineers to explore complex design spaces while working within established workflows. The tool is available through the Cadence Virtuoso ADE Product Suite and provides capabilities for optimization progress tracking, result analysis, stability evaluation, corner visualization and sensitivity analysis.
The software is intended to address several persistent challenges in analog design, where device sizing and parameter optimization often involve extensive simulation across multiple process corners and operating conditions. IC Optimize said Odin can help teams reduce power consumption while improving yield and reliability and meeting or exceeding performance targets.
The company grew out of research at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), combining optimization research with practical analog design experience. According to IC Optimize, Odin supports real-world circuits, a broad range of PDKs and process corners, while fitting into demanding tape-out schedules.
A key aspect of the approach is its integration with existing Cadence-based environments, allowing designers to use optimization capabilities without moving design data into separate workflows. Odin can also run locally in a standard customer environment, an increasingly important consideration for semiconductor companies seeking to protect proprietary design IP.

By joining the Cadence Connections Program, IC Optimize is positioning Odin as a complementary optimization technology for design teams already using Cadence tools. As analog and mixed-signal designs become more complex, optimization tools that can automate parameter exploration while retaining designer control could help reduce the time required to converge on production-ready circuit implementations.
